Rainflow recommends the use and installation of emitter or soaker hoses, to be kept to a minimum, favouring robust fixed spray sprinklers for long term durability. Both the dripper line with integral fitted nozzles and the porous soaker hoses are of thin-walled manufactured tube and very susceptible to damage from cultivating implements ( fork, spades, etc.). They are also vulnerable to bite punctures by squirrells, foxes, etc., affecting the pressure and therefore the water volume and precipitation along the tube run. However, this type of tubing can be used on very narrow planting beds, (positioned to the rear to make inconspicuous) or box hedging and very delicate plants, where overspray from treated water is not recommended.
